Here is a silver plate butter dish from “
The Olympia”.
The butter dish is 7 inches in diameter by 2 inches high. It features a crest of a fruit Compote on the rim. Beneath the compote is a ribbon that reads “
The Olympia.”
Martin-Hall & Co. Ltd. Sheffield England made the dish. It was distributed by Porte & Markle of Vancouver, BC. Porte and Markle were jewellers and watch and clock makers. The company was formed in 1907 and merged with Henry Birks & sons in 1913.
The butter dish has a slight warp and some pitting. The Olympia wording is over stamped so that it can only be read at a specific angle.
