    Description

This is an antique Victorian silver plated, covered butter dish with a cow on top.
I can’t be certain, but I would estimate it dates circa 1880s or 1890s, based on its Eastlake design.
The piece measures 5 1/2 inches tall to the top of the cow’s head (14 cm). It measures 8 1/2 inches wide from handle to handle and 5 1/2 inches wide the other direction (21.6 cm, 14 cm).
Unfortunately it is missing the flat insert from inside and the knife.
It is marked on the bottom:
    RACINE
    TRIPLE
    PLATE
    SILVERPLATE CO.
    57
It has some light damage. One of the prongs in the front of the knife holder is bent inward a little. There is light scattered scratching all about it. There is a thin indentation just below the knife holder and some type of discoloration just to the left of that. There is another small indentation on the opposite side in the back with a long dark discoloration of some type. The decoration inside the handle on the right side has a tiny piece missing. You can see it on the other side.
Please use the photos as your guide.
    It weighs a little under 1 lb. 7 oz. (648 g).
