5 Antique WARREN MFG. CO. PENS Rolled Paper 1890 Quill Unused
Vintage 7 3/4" rolled paper pens with metal tips. Marked "Warren Mfg. Co. North Manchester, Ind." "Warren's Combination Non-Detachable" "Patent Applied for" "One Cent". These have an interesting history. There have been a number of stories about them on the internet, most inaccurate. People want to know where they came from and how old they are. Here's are the real answers to all of the questions. I turned up a full case of boxes of these up many many years ago and sold out of them very quickly. The patent for these is on record, and was granted to Warren Mfg. in 1897. Since they say "Patent Applied for" they are older than 1897. So, saying they are from the 1890s or older is accurate. These are an honest to goodness 1800s pen with tip that used to sell for a penny. Strangely enough, I had sold the bulk of them to friend and famous dealer Bob Secrist a long time ago. I just bought them back from his estate. They are in excellent unused.condition.
